The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that there is a new name - Shawn Shafer - on the contributors bar recently. Shawn is going to be a new member of the editorial team of the blog and describes himself in this wise -
Presently, Shawn is a parishioner at S. Paul's Parish, K St, in Washington, DC, discerning his vocation to the priesthood. His involvement with various ministries at the parish include being the secretary of the local Society of Mary ward, an acolyte for daily masses and Evensong and Benediction, a Eucharistic Visitor (for the elderly and homebound of the parish), an adult associate with the George Washington University Canterbury Club, bible study discussion leader for the 20s and 30s group (termed Carpe Deum), and spiritual chair of the parish capital campaign steering committee. Until recently, he was also a member of the parish choir. He and his wife, Sara, recently moved from Boise, Idaho, to the Washington DC area so that she could complete a master’s course in ESL/TESOL education. Since the move, Shawn has been working as a database programmer and reporting analyst for a consulting firm. His undergraduate degree is in Music – Voice and Choir.-
As you realise, he is a good anglo-catholic and complements our transatlantic feel. Fr Lee is married to an American, Shawn is an American and I once went to McDonalds (to use the toilet). So we are all very 'international jet set' here now.
We are all glad to welcome Shawn.
