The Priestly Ordination of Philip Knowles.

Gospel procession, you can get a good look at half the choir from this picture.

The Bishop calls the Holy Ghost onto Fr Philip.

Just after being vested in his Chasuble, Fr Philip recieves his bible, Chalice and Paten, blessed by the Bishop just before the Mass.

Fr Nicholas Davis, Bishop John, Fr Philip, Canon Peter McEvitt.

We prepare to leave the Lady Chapel and process into the Church.

Bishop John enters the sanctuary.

Philip is presented by his Parish Priest and the Archdeacon.

The Litany.

Philip processes into the Church.

Yesterday was a busy day, as you may have gathered, and it finished in Darwen at half past six in St Cuthbert's Church with the Priestly Ordination of Philip Knowles. Fr Philip worshipped at St Cuthbert's for a considerable time before beginning his training and he serves in a group of Parishes in the central Blackburn area, the churches of which are not so large as St Cuthbert's (in fact, few are!), so therefore the Ordination Mass was held here. It was good to see so many people from Manchester and Blackburn Dioceses, in fact the Sanctuary at one point felt as though St Hilda's Church had been transported to Darwen for the evening! Pray for Fr Philip and for Angela as they move into this next stage of life, that the Holy Ghost may give them both the grace to live as He intends.
