Preparations are now under way for the May Devotions, I have begun assembling the usual, understated shrine, dalmatics are being ironed, candles scraped of the muck of ages, organs being tuned and processional statues being borrowed. For those of you in the area, the service starts at 6pm and there are devotions, a sermon, procession and benediction. A buffet and drinks round the day off. And then on Monday it all comes down again for an Ordinary Time week before Corpus Christi on the following Sunday which will, in my case, be followed by a parade of real ale in Manchester!
