All Souls.

Myself and Fr Bryan Hackett, Parish Priest of St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich.

Guess who?

Here are some pictures of last nights All Souls Mass at St Mary's Prestwich. It was a lovely Mass, in the ancient chancel using the English Missal Rite which felt very special. We all said the Benedictus after the Last Gospel which seemed fitting as that great song of praise rose and mingled with the incense far above our heads. As you can see, our photographer was carried away with emotion, resulting in slightly blurred images! The altar frontal is heat treated pressed velvet, quite stunning to see. We prayed for all your loved ones, thank you again for giving me their names and then we sang the Russian Contakion at the end of the names. I will be in Chester on our next 'black' Sunday, on retreat so I will try and take some pictures at the 8am BCP Mass in the Cathedral.
