After just over two years, 981 posts and over 4,000 comments, the team here at Anglican Wanderings have decided to bow gracefully out of the blogosphere for the foreseeable future. AW is being retired and decommissioned, though its team are not. Thom continues with his own blog, Andrew has moved to his new parish and city and Fr. Kenyon is still adjusting to life in the wild Canadian West. Our collective mind has been that whilst blogging has - and continues to be - much fun (who can forget our coverage of the Synod in July 2008?), AW has run its course. Whilst this will mean no more piccies of food, processions, and churches of interest, it will give your scribes the time they need to pursue other activities and interests.
Thank you to Shawn and to Fr. Howe for their own contributions to this site and to all our loyal Wanderers. Where we shall be without Mr. d'Ambly's ability to calm us all down when things get hot under the collar; Mr. Mortimer's vault of wisdom and knowledge; Gabrielle Gross's kindness and encouragement; Karen Freeman's ultra-Protestantism to keep us in check? And what about the many wonderful contributions from Pageantmaster, the Welsh Jacobite, Mr. Coucill, BillyD, Evan and so many others, not least the excellent support from our fellow Anglo-Catholic bloggers and readers: Fr. Tomlinson, Fr. Jones, Fr. Alexander, Fr. Davis, Fr. McEvitt, ex_fide, and the Gin Soaked Seminarian. If we have missed you off the list of despatches, sorry! We have enjoyed our time immensely.
In common with Fr. Jones, we have not particularly enjoyed the nastiness and rudeness of some comments made, but we have prided ourselves on an open combox and it has been great fun to engage with many varied contributors. Thank you for making it so worthwhile.
As I say, Thom's blog continues, as do all the wonderful Anglo-Catholic blogs which are out there defending the Faith once delivered to the Saints. Please do visit them and participate in their contribution to this witness of Catholic faith and fun. Rest assured, Andrew and Fr. Kenyon will return in some form, in due course, since they have not forsaken their love of blogging forever, and when they do return they promise to take things at a gentler pace, until such time as they are irked by liturgical dance, "Fresh Expressions of Church", cassock albs and WATCH. Doesn't sound too promising, does it!?
Adieu!
